HR Biscuit – proud winners of the 2024 IHR Award for Best Newcomer

We are delighted to announce that our innovative CoActive Assessment approach, products and services have won the In-House Recruiters 2024 Best Newcomer award!!!

This is why we won…

Finding and hiring the right people remains one the biggest challenges facing the in-house recruitment industry; but we were able to demonstrate how our inclusive and accessible assessment approach, products and services are having a positive impact and enabling our clients to hire the skilled and diverse workforce they need, whatever their size or sector

From designing strategic resourcing solutions to creating and delivering engaging assessment an training solutions, our Consultancy Practice has some of the happiest clients in the industry:

‘It is truly refreshing to come across a business that challenges mainstream recruitment practices and genuinely looks to balance the hiring needs of an organisation whilst providing a candidate the best possible opportunity to showcase themselves, regardless of background.’

Sam Diack, Capita

‘With the insight I’ve gained from this process it helps me to build and validate a new operating model underpinned by setting the expectation that we need to have a high performance culture delivering value-add to our business stakeholders, so my team can be really proud of the part we play in helping the business grow and succeed.

I have been able to understand where my people are today and what they want to achieve in the future. Having data and insights means I can provide highly credible and relevant feedback to help my team grow and develop.

I feel as though I have been able to “take the temperature” of the team in a way that wouldn’t have been possible without HR Biscuit and their CoActive Assessment® approach.'

Andrew Porter, Entain

‘From the outset, Mari was great at listening to our unique requirements for an assessment as part of a strict legal process and developed a market leading, equitable and thorough assessment process in complete partnership with our HR project team.

Mari’s process allowed us to identify and select the strongest talent across a pool of over 200 people and appoint them into new positions – many of whom received significant promotions as a result of our assessments successfully identifying talent that had previously gone unidentified. Iwould gladly work with Mari again and would recommend her as a true expert in her field.'

Alex Riley, Unite Students

And this is how…

Over the last three years we have helped organisations build skills based workforce strategies; attract, interview and retain high-potential employees and address their DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility) recruitment challenges.

And now, our innovative new CoActive Assessment Web App gives our clients the technological ease of use, confidence, and flexibility to use our award winning approach across all their internal and external recruitment.

Finding untapped and critical talent for Unite Students.

The Unite Group (trading as Unite Students) provides residential accommodation to around 74,000 students across 123 buildings across the UK and is the largest and oldest Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) provider in the country.

Unite Students were pivoting from a Sales and Acquisition led business to a Service led business, and we were appointed to create and support an inclusive assessment approach that would enable a major restructure of people and roles across the organisation.

Using the CoActive Assessment approach as part of a significant cross organisation restructure, Unite Students were able to identify and select the strongest talent across a pool of over 200 people and appoint them into new positions – many of whom received significant promotions as a result of our assessments - successfully identifying talent that had previously gone unidentified.

This restructure and assessment set the company up for success as it pivoted towards being a service led business.

Improving Capita’s DEIA recruitment

Capita plc is the largest business process outsourcing and professional services company in the United Kingdom (UK), and has clients in central government, local government and the private sector. It also has a property and infrastructure consultancy division which is the fourth largest multidisciplinary consultancy in the UK.

We were approached by Capita to create an inclusive assessment approach for their new Technical Consultancy apprenticeship programme, with a particular remit to improve the diversity of the consulting division which at the time was 95% white and 80% male.

Using the CoActive Assessment approach, Capita exceeded their target intake of Technical Consultant Apprentices and achieved 60% B&ME (20% Black), 40% female and 20% neurodiverse hires with a 97% retention rate.

Capita was so impressed with the results and quality of hires they created an approach for their Pensions Apprenticeships, and we not only improved the quality of hires into this division, but their annual attrition rate also shifted from 80% to 20% for this cohort.

Helping Entain to develop a People First culture.

We were asked by Andrew Porter, Group Director of Talent Acquisition, to help Entain to identify and prioritise the skills and behaviours most closely aligned with success in their future organisation by assessing the team against these, alongside their understanding and motivations towards a People First Culture.

HR Biscuit undertook a 360-degree assessment process which included:

  • A CoActive Assessment® individual task that tested motivation, commercial acumen, creativity and critical thinking
  • A CoActive Assessment® interview that looked at current level of skills acquisition and ability to develop the core, interpersonal and leadership skills needed to deliver Andrew’s ‘Best People’ objective
  • A personality profile focused on preferred working patterns and styles.

The process meant speaking to around 65 people across 4 main geographical hubs and our background in consultancy combined with our CoActive Assessment® app made this an efficient and structured process which yielded a huge volume of both macro and micro information

.

Using the CoActive Assessment® approach and web app we were able to uncover the range and depth of talent in the Talent Acquisition team; talent that will enable Andrew to build his vision for the future of the function.

We were able to identify geographical differences as well as identifying individuals with high potential. This then facilitated decisions about how best to structure and develop Andrew’s team for future success. Additionally, team managers were given 360-degree feedback, on their team to enable them to create individual development plans and provide the necessary future support for each employee.

Andrew described the work done by HR Biscuit as having provided the ‘perfect grounding’ for his project.
